- Cross was made in 1965 by Herb Barrett of the University of Illinois; seed planted and tested at Geneva
- Combines desirable attributes of both parents:
Spicy, flavorful wine similar to acclaimed parent, 'Gewürztraminer'
Good cold hardiness
Good resistance to powdery mildew, black rot and Botrytis bunch rot
Ripens in early October in New York
- Bred by grape breeders at Geneva in cooperation with the Enology Program of the Department of Food Science and Technology
