Research (75%) is focused on floriculture and ornamental crop physiology, especially including carbohydrate metabolism, partitioning, and utilization of stored reserves. Near-market research on flowerbulbs and perennials, including uses for both forcing, dry sales, and landscape use. A current interest area is leaf senescence, with the goal of developing systems to permit short-term cold storage of forced oriental hybrid lilies prior to sale.
