Many strawberry growers in the Northeast have been using spunbonded polypropylene row covers on part of their berry plantings in the early spring to enhance growth during cool weather, thus bringing on an earlier berry crop on that acreage. The NYS Berry Growers Association works with Ken-Bar, Inc., a distributor of row covers and plastics, and Indian Valley Industries, a supplier of 14 "x 24" UV protected sand bags.

Formerly called Typar T-518, the DuPont3151 Custom Cover is a very durable material, giving multiple seasons of use. The row cover and sandbags can be conveniently ordered through NYSBGA. When you order by fax, e-mail, or mail, we place the order for you, then bill you for the cost of the row cover plus actual freight charges when they arrive at your farm.

More information on the row covers, prices, and ordering are in the pages below. You can also visit the Ken-Bar website which has information on other agricultural plastics.
