Research reports
|
The NYSBGA Board of Directors each year selects research projects to be funded from the member donations to the research fund, and dollars from the fund to be allocated in any one year. A summary of the research expenditures is presented at the members annual winter meeting.
Requests for projects to be funded can come from university or independent researchers, or from NYSBGA members who see a need for a particular aspect of berry growing to be looked into. Both researchers and NYSBGA members are encouraged to submit to the Executive Secretary suggestions for projects they would like to see funded.
Projects funded for 2006:
- $2,000 to Dr. Kerik Cox at Geneva for general support of the berry pathology program.
- $1,000 to Molly Shaw, CCE Tioga County for a nutritional study in
blueberries.
Projects funded for 2005:
- $2,500 to Robin Bellinder and Chris Benedict for weed control in new berry plantings.
- $2,500 to Cathy Heidenreich and Dena Fiacchino for integrated blueberry disease management at NYSAES, Geneva, NY.
- $2,000 to Dr. Chris Watkins - payment for the 2004 post harvest study.
