• Dr. Rick Schoellhorn, Director of New Products, Proven Winners will talk about new and exciting plants and their use in the landscape

• Dan Gilrein (Long Island Horticultural Research and Extension Center) and John Sanderson (Department of Entomology) on insect control
• Neil Mattson (Department of Horticulture) on common nutrient disorders of the greenhouse/landscape

There will be a morning program on the Cornell campus featuring the above speakers. The afternoon program is held at Bluegrass Lane, an off-campus research facility where more than 1,000 annuals and perennials will be available for study and discussion. Discover creative uses of plant material while viewing entries in the Kathy Pufahl Container Design Competition, which will feature many container gardens. Participants are encouraged to bring their own entries for the container design competition. (View images from last year's competition.)

Field day attendees may wish to attend a separate hands-on workshop offered the previous afternoon. The program will feature insect identification, disease identification, and cultural practices. Each topic will be taught by Cornell or NYS IPM faculty/staff and will allow participants to use microscopes, pH meters and other equipment for practical experience. More will be posted shortly.
