Dr. Frank Rossi, aka the 'Turf Guy' Improving the environment ... ...one lawn at a time.

Who's behind this site?
For technical information on these lawn pages, we rely on Frank Rossi. Here at Cornell, more folks call him the "Turf Guy" than Dr. Rossi. But the man knows how to grow grass.
How good is he? Golfweek Magazine named him one of the 40 most influential people in the golf industry under 40. (It wasn't because of his handicap.) Graduates from his turf programs groom fields where the big-leaguers can still feel the thrill of the grass.
The cool thing about Frank is that he is just as good at helping you grow a good-looking lawn as he is working with the pros at the ballpark or the country club. And he can help you do it with less time and less money than you'd expect.
Most important, he'll tell you: You can do it without polluting our lakes, streams or groundwater. In fact, if you listen to Frank, you can improve water quality by the way you take care of your lawn.
"My motto is: Improving the environment -- one lawn at a time!" he says.
So what's the Turf Guy do on his own 3/4 -acre lawn? He works in some seed on bare spots in the spring, spot sprays for a weeds when needed, and applies a little fertilizer in fall. All told, just 4 hours of work and $100 out of pocket.
He still wants his wife to make the garden bigger so he won't have to mow so much.
