Small, brown spots, sometimes surrounded by a purple halo is caused by the leaf spot fungus
Angular leaf spot is a bacterial infection that starts off as small dark green "water-soaked" angular spots on the undersides of leaves. Eventually these coalesce, and the leaf appears scorched.
