Powdery mildew grows on the undersides of leaves, causing them to curl upwards. The most susceptible strawberry variety grown in the Northeast is Earliglow, but dayneutral varieties are susceptible as well. Often a whitish-gray "powder" can be seen on the undersides of leaves. Occasionally, the edges of leaves turn reddish purple.
In severe cases, the fungus infects the fruit stems.
In severe cases, the fungus covers the upper surface of the leaves.
