Angular leaf spot begins with small, transluscent spots on the underside of leaves that rapidly expand. However, these expansions are confined to interveinal areas, hence the sharp angle of the "spots."

This bacterial disease can cause severe browning or blackening of leaves and turn calyxes on fruit black. This problem is most severe in colder production regions with wet weather.
