Nut Grove Home Summer 2002

  • Honeysuckle cleared.
  • Trail and step construction.
  • Deer exclosures built.
  • Selected trees removed (box elder).
Spring/Summer 2003

  • Small fruit shade tolerance experiment planted.
  • Logs inoculated with Shiitake and Stropharia mushroom spawn.
  • Pawpaw seedlings planted.
  • Division I cleared (walnut grove south of stream).
  • Cankered walnut removed.
Fall 2003

Hort/Ntres/CSS 416: Practicum in Forest Farming class activities included:
  • Raspberry planting.
  • Pawpaw transplanting.
  • Ginseng planting.
  • More bridge and stair construction.
  • Mushroom inoculation.
  • Fire ring construction and first 'Forest Feast'.
Nut harvest and evaluation by the Northern Nut Growers Association.

Spring 2004

  • Nut harvest line placement.
  • Small fruit planting.
  • Nut tree grafting.
