    • The companion Tree ID Guide can be ordered from the Urban Horticulture Institute. This guide is pocket size and useful to carry when conducting the inventory.

    PDA Data Collection Package

The corner stone of the tree inventory project is the use of personal digital assistants (PDA's) or handheld computers, to record tree data while in the field. This project utilized the Palm Pilot M105, and Pendragon Forms 3.1 software. But any PDA using the Palm OS platform, with 2MB of memory will work.

    Benefits of using PDA's

    • User freindly software that prompts the user and allows data entry from pull-down menus.
    • Data is directly uploaded to database reducing chance of entry error and saving time.

The downloadable Tree inventory package includes the PDA form and associated lookup forms. After download and installation, you will need to create your own lookup form of street names.

Go to Training Procedure for tips on preapring the inventory workforce.
